I am absolutely blown away by the Philips 55-inch Smart TV with its Ambilight Technology! This TV has completely transformed the living room viewing experience. The Ambilight technology creates an immersive atmosphere by extending the on-screen colours onto the surrounding walls, making every movie night feel like a trip to the cinema, and brings even the most mundane TV shows to life! The picture quality is stunning, with vibrant colours, sharp contrast, and impeccable clarity, bringing my favourite shows and movies to life like never before. Although used infrequently due to owning an Amazon Fire Stick, the smart features built-in allow me to easily stream content from various apps and seamlessly navigate through menus with lightning-fast responsiveness. Additionally, the sleek design of the TV adds a touch of elegance to my living room. Whether I’m binge-watching a series or using the smart features to watch a YouTube video, this Philips Smart TV delivers unparalleled performance and entertainment value. The audio quality is fine for the size of our room, though I do feel a sound bar could definitely improve this aspect of the television; so definitely something to consider if you value audio as much as you do video quality. With that said though, I can’t recommend this TV highly enough! And of course, as pictured, this was purchased at Christmas time during the Black Friday sale, and it was really nice to discover the ambilight LEDs went hand-in-hand with our Christmas decorations too!

Big fan of Ambilight having an 55″ OLED as my main set in the living room, so wanted that feature for a new bedroom TV without the same expense.Did some research and opted against the similarly priced 2023 sets as they do not use Android so the software is very limited, and picked out the older 50″ model instead.Set up was simple and wall mounted the TV without issue.Picture quality is fine for this price bracket though viewing angles are as expected for a VA panel, so if viewed at around 30° the colours do wash out. Not a problem for a bedroom where it’s viewed almost entirely from a central position, but couldn’t recommend it for a living room where people might routinely be sat at wider angles to the set.The sound is good (far better than other budget sets) and the connections are plentiful. One thing to note: as with most modern TVs it’s worth turning off motion processing (applied by default) as the ‘soap opera’ effect doesn’t do movies any favours at all.All in all, a great set for a bedroom, but if viewing angles are important then it’s worth sourcing a set with an IPS panel, or look at upping the budget for a premium set.

i bought this tv as a smaller version for my bedroom, as i have the 65inch version in my lounge. The LED Lights make the picture look so much bigger, and also acts as a great night light when watching tv with the lights off.

Needed a new TV for our small lounge, and wanted something with Google TV/Android TV built in. This seemed to fit the bill, and I was quite taken with the idea of Ambilight. Got a good deal on Black Friday so new TV it is!Unboxed and assembled to two very sturdy feet easily, the TV is much thinner than what it’s replacing and looks lovely. And then you switch it on! The menu and guide seem very fast to navigate (using a HiSense TV in a hotel recently and my god it was slow) and it was really straightforward to connect it to my streaming accounts.Shame there’s no Google TV apps for iPlayer, ITVx and Channel4, but that’s not Philips’ fault. The Ambilight is everything I hoped it would be, and really adds something extra when watching, not to mention just looks really slick. Overall, very happy, and now seriously considering the 32in version for the bedroom!

The media could not be loaded. This is a brilliant tv.Movies and sports have been dramatically changed while watching this tv.It gives a great atmosphere and helps you immerse yourself in whatever you’re watching. The menu screen is very easy to use and has some cool features.Very happy with this tv.Thanks mum for a great wedding present. 👍🏻

Wow! So much better than expected and an exceptional price! The ambilight feature is an incredible feature, I wouldn’t be without it now! Sound quality is okay, but with most TV’s now it’s much better with a soundbar! The picture quality is very good. I like that you can choose the options yourself for sharpness, contract, colour etc to make the picture how you want it. Highly recommend

We are so glad that we chose this model, when we decided to upgrade. Picture quality is pin-sharp, and set-up and operation is simple.

The Television is exactly as described and is a Really nice TV. Lots to change with the ambience in the Television. The Reason for buying was for PS5 gaming. And I’m surprised at the detail difference compared to my other LG tv. This has much better graphics. The sound is good but not as good as I expected. The downside is The controller is really long and you might want to buy new batteries before you get your TV.I contacted the seller via there online website to tell them that the Phillips batteries included did not work. I’m disappointed with the seller As when I phoned to report this I wasn’t even offered compensation for new batteries. Good job I already had Duracell batteries to hand.

TV is easy to set up and light enough to pick up by yourself (arm span dependant)Features are simple enough to work out but I’ve also had an ambilight TV before so I was used to the general layout.Google play store loads/responds very quickly.Make sure you are on game mode when playing any video games, didn’t do this automatically on mine and the input latency was horrendous until I fixed it. Luckily it was only about 3 clicks to get to the setting and change it over. The TV remote feels sturdy and expensive, there’s a nice reassuring weight to it.On design the TV is very tall and screen goes almost all the way to the edge.Ambilight feature is, as always, wonderful. Will test it with bulbs/speakers in the future.
