Searched for a while to find one with quartz/glass elements (had one years ago), took a while to commit to spending quite a lot on a toaster, but glad I did in the end: This toaster is fantastic :)I like toast, so I’ve ended up using a lot of toasters from very cheap (£8) to very expensive (£150 Dualit!). And it has been pot luck as to whether it will be good or bad, and how long it stays good, or even if it will only effectively toast one side. The common theme? They all had a wire wrap element. Most toasters (not this one!) use a wire wrap element, so they all have the same basic technology. The problem I’ve found is that this heats up unevenly if the wrapping is a bit off (touching the backing material), doesn’t conduct well, or simply gets used (heats and warps, gets a crumb behind the wire). Have a look inside and you can check how consistently the length of the wire glows. They all had the same basic technology for the most important function (heating!), so the big price differences aren’t actually getting you anything different. And they all end up with variation in evenness of heating across units (how well the element is wrapped, conductivity) and over time (heats and warps, crumbs). If you look at the reviews for lots of toasters (I like toast!), you’ll see this variation within each toaster with some people finding their unit toasts like Vulcan has intervened and others saying its more like Vulcan was a bit shy. With this toaster and these elements, you get something actually different that heats really well, is super consistent and stays consistent. On top of that, the actual rising and cleaning mechanisms are great so it feels (and even sounds) good to use.So you can spend £150 to get £8 technology and hope to goodness that your money is going on good quality control and materials rather than style and branding.Or you can get this fabulous toaster which consistently gets you toast that Vulcan (and me!) loves 🙂

This is by far the best toaster that we have ever had and this purchase was as a Christmas present. It is the only toaster that actually takes all makes of bread and you can watch it browning too. Switch the TV off!It is the most consistent browning, reliable toaster that is available as far as we are concerned

This is an expensive toaster – but no dearer than an Italian brand that my friends have which often incinerates rather than toasts. It has a really wide single slot for thicker items and takes two large slices of bread comfortably. It does not launch the newly toasted bread into space and bread does not get stuck in the slot. Easy to use and keep clean – perfect toast every time. And it comes with a long guarantee. If, like me, you like to start the day with toast and tea, and have the cash – it’s a clear winner.Update: almost 10 months later still performing it’s ‘daily bread’ routine perfectly. I tend to clean it weekly making it look as new as the days I got it.Further update: One of my biggest problems with my previous toaster was how difficult it was to keep free of breadcrumb residue – which carbonates by the week, month year. This toaster has a mechanism which enables the glass sides to drop down for easier cleaning – no more holding a toaster upside-down and shaking to try release the overtoasted grime.Even further update: Toaster still performing as well the day I bought it almost 2 years ago.Yet even further update: Still no problems with this Rolls Royce of toasters – my friend’s Italian brand toaster is now toast itself.Third anniversary – nothing to report – still no problems = working perfectly even under almost daily usage.Saw a review by Which? in which they said the see through nature of the toaster could be off putting – you can see all the crumbs. I put them right by saying it was the easiest toaster to keep clean and has a very effective crumb tray.Fourth anniversary and still working perfectly even with daily use. Encouraged me to buy another Magimix product – their brilliant ‘Le Blender’Fifth anniversary and nothing to report – really magic.Sixth anniversary – easily outlasted every toaster I have owned or used. Just as good as the day it was first plugged in.Eight anniversary. Still as good as the day I first used it. This is not a product – it’s an investment!Ninth anniversary or am I losing track of time. Still works brilliantly and gets used every single day. So easy to keep clean – low maintenance. Not sure if it’s still in production but then I won’t need to replace it!Lost count now of how many years of consistent, almost daily, usage and still going strong. Amortising the cost over the number of years of use, this is a very cheap toaster.

I wanted a toaster which I could monitor as it’s so difficult to regulate toasters and ensure that they cook a consistently every time. There are other glass door toasters but I know this brand and I liked that it had the unique quartz heating elements which meant that you get a perfectly clear view to the toast without seeing heating wires. I also liked the fact that the glass units are double glazed to help retain the heat within the toaster and also ensure that the outer pane of glass doesn’t get to hot to touch when in use.The buttons and knobs feel sturdy, the overall build quality feels sturdy and the glass release button is well thought to allow you to clean the glass which doesn’t get dirty but is good to have just in case.It is incredibly expensive for a toaster and the family don’t agree with the price but I do for something as unique as this is which is used on a daily basis and provides the convenience of a quick glance to check the toast level and is built to a high standard as this is.If it lasts 20 years like my old Dualit I’d be very happy but I’d have to be a bit more realistic and hope it lasts more than 3 years which is when my Sage toaster died.

I bought this on sale and had high expectations given the price. It’s a really beautiful toaster. Modern and clean, but when it powers on, it lights up and you can see the toast as clear as day.The toaster fits only two slices unfortunately which is a shame but seems to be a consequence of these clear toasters. Perfect for me having a small family, but not great for bigger families I should imagine. Now, let’s get one thing straight. This is a toaster. It toasts. Nothing more. However it does so very well. I found though that anything over the lower settings will burn the bread very quickly so I’ve got it set at 2 which is perfect for me. It cooks quickly and looks amazing in use, and you can monitor the toasting process all the way due to the clear glass front and back. Ideal! Toast comes out nice and light and airy. Great for breakfast and the closest I’ve had to using an actual grill which is a total faff.I’ve had the toaster for about 4 months now and it’s been used more or less daily. I’ve cleaned it once in that time and to be honest it didn’t really need that, but it’s very easy. Both the front and back glass pieces open to give access to clean internally and the long crumb tray catches everything. It took about a minute to do and looks spotless again.Overall, it’s an expensive luxury item. I think it’s well worth it. It looks amazing and is now a permanent feature in the kitchen rather than being hidden away like our old toaster. Toast does taste nicer as well. No complaints and I love this toaster.

This is our second Magimix toaster, the first lasting for well over twelve years of regular use before failing. There are relatively few toasters which will take the extra-large, thicker slices from our home-made bread but this is perfect. It is novel to be able to see the bread toasting as well, but it is not just a gimmick as it toasts efficiently and quickly. Very solid and well-made with a range of useful options. Easy to keep clean with a removable crumb tray and drop-down glass sides. HIghly recommended.

A toaster that actually toasts, who would have thought. So I have had numerous toasters over the past years, none of which have actually worked as well as putting a slice of bread under a gas grill. That was until I got this toaster. It needed two of us to get it out of the box as it is quite heavy. This is not a bad thing, just unexpected as most toasters are very flimsy and light in weight. It toasts bread perfectly and even toasts the edges. I cut a doorstop slice of bread and it toasted it perfectly. It is a joy to behold and I love seeing it in my kitchen. Finally, I have toast, just the way I want it, whenever I want it and no more guessing if it is ready yet.

I came up with this idea in 2001. For years I have told mates about it and was roundly laughed at. ‘Who needs to stand there and watch toast!’ they said ‘What’s the point?’ said others. Of course I did nothing about it but maybe, just maybe someone told someone else who worked at Magimix and here it is, after all these years, my invention. Now onto why it is good. No longer do I burn toast because I can glance over and see if it is ready. If you use different breads then they all toast at different times. The other bonus is that the sides don’t get very hot so I don’t panic if my son gets close to it.You can flip the sides down to clean it.And it looks fantastic, lovely smooth brushed steel which doesn’t keep finger prints. It is reminiscent of an American Airstream.Yes it is expensive, yes it is a bit of an extravegance but you will never look at regular toasters again after using it.Now I just need to wait for the royalty cheque to arrive…

I LOVE this toaster. It’s more than I ever thought I’d pay for a toaster given I used to toast things (bagels, fruit bread) about once every 2-3 weeks max, but I love a good gadget, and most importantly I wanted something with a bagel/baguette setting so only the inside of the bread was toaster and the clear window was a bonus to make sure my bread was toasted to my preference, regardless of setting.I’m happy to say, a year in, it lives up to all my expectations. Toasts everything well, and am so pleased with the bagel function. To the point my bagel intake has gone up! But I was most surprised by how much I use/love the defrost feature. It’s very efficient. And the windows come in such handy. Even some of my main staples cook at different speeds depending on how I mangle the cutting of them, so it’s great to be able to see how quickly they’re browning each time so I can end it early if need be. And last but not least, it looks darn good sitting proudly on my counter top.

I bought this toaster as a practical present for our 10 year old, and while I wait for my World’s Best Parent award to arrive in the post I thought I’d give it a try.Being able to see the toast browning in the toaster without peering into the top tales all the guesswork out of getting perfect toast and the browning seems to be very even. The single slot form factor takes country loaves in a single slice as well as square loaves.Aesthetically it looks fantastic too, replacing a Dualit toaster it doesn’t look any more out of place in our kitchen and the see-through sides makes the toaster look less bulky, if you have under cupboard lights this illuminates through the glass and provides more light on the worktop. There’s no hiding this is a very expensive toaster, but if perfect toast every time is important to you then it’s worth the outlay, or makes a perfect indulgent gift for a 10 year old.
