I use to clean all my carpets with a Bissell spot cleaner which was ok, but use to leave the carpet wetter than I liked and it took me ages, so I got fed up and done some research on carpet washers that gave the best value for money in the mid range bracket, without getting a commercial one.I have to say using the rug doctor is so much better it has saved my back, and I really enjoy washing the carpets I find it like meditation and I like seeing the progress and seeing the dirty water knowing I am doing a good job, and seeing the final result. I think this is my first review ever, the machine is prebuilt and takes less thank 5 minutes to put together and up and running, if your not the strongest of persons it may be a bit heavy for you weighing 17kg but that weight helps push the machine into the carpet cleaning it a lot better, when using the machine its a pull back action whist pushing the button on top of the handle to release the the cleaning fluid, also there is a dial you can turn on the machine that sprays the cleaning fluid out the back giving it a chances to get deeper into the carpet before it is sucked up, it cleans in straight lines and I like that fact.you will go through quite a bit of cleaning fluid but that does not matter as it getting the carpets clean, emptying the dirty water tank is really easy just undo the lid and pour down the toilet, but be carful where the dirty water goes in from the machine can leak out there and make a mess, but you would have that problem with any design, it holds lots of water and picks most of it up, leaving it just damp to the touch unlike other carpet washers I have used.cleaning the dirty water tank I would recommend filling up the bath with water and submerge it in water and move it back and forth under the water to get the trapped hair and dirt where it goes in.I find it a great peace of kit and will be cleaning my carpets regularly with this device when it does eventually where out I will be sticking with rug doctor and moving to a commercial carpet cleaner, as I love cleaning the carpets and I am thinking on maybe starting a small carpet cleaning business, if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them. I am really happy with thus product and you will not be disappointed, just remember to buy pre-spray carpet cleaner to get them extra nice.

I’ve used rug doctors in my job for years and nothing has come even close to how good these machines are. Got one for the house and some very old worn carpets and they’ve gotten them looking almost new, superb maching.

Cleans carpets & furniture first pass over. Buy extra detergent you’ll need it when you get the cleaning bug. Leaves carpets dry & clean also rug Dr detergent smells nice.

I have just had the best afternoon ever.After getting a couple of puppies in the summer and having young children, our carpet was shamefully starting to look a tad grubby. To say I’m horrified by actually how grubby they were is an understatement! I’m completely blown away by the difference in the carpet now and feel so embarrassed my carpets got in such a state. They look new and smell so much fresher!The instructions are easy to follow and it comes with a small sample bottle of carpet detergent. I did however also purchase a bigger bottle which I’m glad I did as I soon used up the sample.The machine is quite noisy but not a huge issue for us. (Sure my neighbours might disagree)Brought in the black Friday sale and so pleased with the cost. Worth every penny.The nozzle function was a bit tricky to work to begin with and needs a bit of twisting to work it out but once figured that out it was a breeze.Cleaning the water waste tank afterwards proved a little tricky. I would be tempted next time to give it a good rinse out in the shower once it’s been emptied. Some bits are hard to get to.Did find the tanks would leak a little when refilling and placing them back in, but to be honest, I’m so happy with how my carpets look, I don’t feel it was a huge issue.Overall very very pleased with it and can’t wait to do the rest of the house 😀

I had a vax canister shampoo/carpet hoover for many years (over 20) and as I was getting older it was getting harder and harder to use because of the effort you have to use on the shampoo bit I mean, really push down on the cleaner head to suck as much liquid as you can out of the carpet. This machine however is a different kettle of fish. I looked it up on you-tube (as I always do before buying anything) to see how it works and the reviews. My carpet is very light beige (almost white) and has only been down for just over a year but having a dog, it was looking a bit tired on the main walkway from the lounge to the kitchen and the dog flap. Anyway I ordered this machine and it was so, so very easy to use but, I was shocked at the colour of the water being sucked up, it was mud like and there is only me and my dog!!! You don’t realise over time how dirty your carpet can get and on seeing the results on only just one pass, it was incredible and, virtually dry. After doing the whole room, I walked into the kitchen and looked at the floor tiles where I had been and there were no wet foot prints at all. I cannot recommend this machine enough even though it is on the expensive side, just fill it up, switch it on, drag it backwards and let it do all the work. A great piece of kit and well worth every penny 🙂

Well I had a Vax and it didn’t clean my carpets well at all I was going to get new carpets as was in a right state but I thought I’ll try a rug doctor as I saw the reviews was not bad.but when I tried it what a brilliant machine it is I wish I had got one year’s ago as you can see in the picture all I can say is if you want a carpet cleaner get a rug doctor I know it’s more money than a Vax but you won’t be disappointed.absolute brilliant

I’ve bought several Vax products in the past and not only do they break after about a year, but I never got the results I got from this, and this is with only regular quick cleaning, didn’t use the boost and one quick go over the carpet, and this is a very high traffic area with a child and 2 big dogs. I can highly recommend the rug doctor and will never buy anything else. Took me a while to realise the adjustable handle but I just used it without reading the instructions.

Looks brilliant, well packaged, unfortunately can’t do a proper review until the weather warms up and then I can wash my carpets,I shall update later.this is my update, just spent two days cleaning my carpets, well aside from us being mucky, looking at the colour of the waste water, I love my rug doctor it’s been easy to clean the carpets and because we are in a bungalow they need a damn good clean and it was brilliant.
